Brook House Outbuildings
The Brief
Conversion of listed outbuildings
Built
Completed January 2013
Description
The project involved a number of different phases which included conversion of a single storey barn/outbuilding to a residential annexe providing a flexible main space that could double up as a games room for the main house. The design of the roof was carefully considered to reuse the existing glass pantiles which allowed more light to penetrate the interior without the need for forming new openings in the historic structure. A separate outbuilding which had previously been extended was adapted and converted to a garage which incorporated the plant for a new outdoor swimming pool with further accommodation provided for dog kennels and a cleverly conceived chicken coup which was accessed by a specifically designed ‘fox-proof’ ladder. A third outbuilding was designed as a new build to provide garden storage and a ‘sun-lounge for cats. All of the outbuildings and swimming pool formed part of a complete overhaul of the grounds and gardens for the main house.
